Did Rajamouli Insult Hanuman? The Truth behind the "Varanasi" Event

If you have been online recently, you might have seen a lot of anger directed at SS Rajamouli, the director of Baahubali and RRR. People are upset because of something he said about Lord Hanuman during the launch of his new movie, Varanasi. Police complaints have even been filed!

But before we jump to conclusions, let’s look at what actually happened.

What Happened at the Event?

Did Rajamouli Insult Hanuman? The Truth behind the "Varanasi" Event

Rajamouli was launching his massive new movie, Varanasi (starring Mahesh Babu). The event was huge, with thousands of fans. But then, disaster struck. The technical systems failed, and the teaser couldn't play on the big screen.

For a perfectionist like Rajamouli, this was a nightmare. He was stressed, embarrassed, and emotional.

The Controversial Comment

In his frustration, Rajamouli took the mic and spoke about his father (a big devotee) and his wife. He said: "I don't believe in God. My dad said Hanuman will take care of everything. Is this how he takes care? I am angry."

People saw a clip of this and got furious. They felt he was insulting Hanuman. But was he?

Counter Argument by Popular creators

Popular YouTubers like Pratik, Prem unfiltered, have stepped in to clear the air. Here is why they think the anger is wrong:

1. It Was Frustration, Not Hate: Pratik points out that Rajamouli was having a meltdown because his event failed. He wasn't attacking Hanuman; he was complaining about the situation. It’s like when you are stressed and you shout, "Why is God doing this to me?" Expressing your anger isn't the same thing as attacking God.

2. Look at His Movies! Pratik asks a simple question: Who has done more for Sanatan culture in cinema than Rajamouli?

  • In RRR, he showed the Alluri Sita Ramaraju like Lord Ram and Bheem like Hanuman metaphorically.
  • In Baahubali 2, he glorified Shivbhakti in climax scene.
  • He has declared in many interviews that he is a proud Hindu and Karmayogi on international platforms also.

Actions speak louder than words. Rajamouli might call himself an atheist, but his movies treat our culture with the highest respect. He said he is an atheist in terms of religion. But not in terms of Dharma. Dharma means way of life explained in Bhagwad Geeta. The Famous Karma shlok. You can only do your Karma having no right on its fruit/result.

3. The "Friendly Fire" Warning: Pratik warns that if we attack our own friends, we lose. Rajamouli is one of the few directors making movies that celebrate Indian history and culture. If we "cancel" him over one emotional sentence, we are only hurting our own culture. Pratik calls this a "trap" that we shouldn't fall into.

Why I agree with these creators:

SS Rajamouli, who respects our Santana culture in his movies, is a thousand times better than "fake devotees" who make movies that mock our Dharma. I completely agree. Why are we attacking the one guy who makes us proud of our heritage on the global stage? Filmmakers like Mani Ratnam and Rishab Shetty put their own missionary agenda in the name of Dharmic movies. Rajamouli is not like them who wrongly represents the history.

Conclusion

Rajamouli had a bad day and said something out of anger. It wasn't perfect, but it wasn't malicious. As Pratik suggests, we should judge him by the magnificent movies he makes, not by a 30-second clip of him being stressed out. Let’s wait for Varanasi. it is going to be another masterpiece that celebrates our roots!

If the first film was about the mission, this sequel , judging by the trailer , is personal. Here is a breakdown of what we’ve gleaned from the explosive first look. The trailer starts with “Hindu bada darpok com hai” line in 1 st film. And then showing Jaskirat’s rage while killing Rehman Dakait. That’s a great symbolism. 1.
