I. Introduction:
The
announcement of Spirit movie, collaboration of director Sandeep Reddy Vanga
(SRV) and Superstar Prabhas has created huge buzz. Vanga is famous for his
intense, often controversial, hit films like Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh,
and the record-breaking Animal. Now, he teams up with Prabhas, whom he
calls 'India's Biggest Superstar'.
It is confirmed to be an intense
cop action movie, packed with action, strong emotions, and powerful music. This
partnership aims to mix Vanga’s proven ability to create commercial
blockbusters with Prabhas’ pan-Indian star power. The goal is simple: to
deliver an intense character-driven action saga.
II. What We Know About Filming and Production
A. When and Where They Are Shooting
The
filming schedule is set around Prabhas’ busy calendar. While earlier reports
suggested official shooting date is now planned for January 2025 right after
Prabhas' film The Raja Saab is released.
Some
reports suggest, filming with the supporting cast starts in September 2025, and
Prabhas will join later in November 2025. The film is huge, requiring a massive
budget and international locations. Plans include extensive shooting in
Thailand (a main spot), Mexico and Indonesia. They will also shoot an initial
schedule in Mumbai, which is reportedly reserved for important flashback scenes
about the main character.
B. Director’s Unique Strategy: Music First
One of
the most interesting details is Vanga’s approach to music. Vanga, who is known
for writing and editing his films, has already finished 70% of the Background
Music (BGM) composed by Harshavardhan Rameshwar.
Since
Vanga's movies rely heavily on music to set the mood and pacing (like in Animal),
finishing the score early means the shooting will follow a set emotional
rhythm. This guarantees the final movie will match his exact vision and makes
the large, multi-location shoot run smoothly.
C. The Main Cast
Prabhas
is training physically for the role and is expected to show up in "two
distinct avatars" as his character changes throughout the story. Tripti
Dimri, who plays a doctor in the film, is confirmed as the female lead,
replacing Deepika Padukone. This is Dimri’s second time working with Vanga,
suggesting a crucial emotional role in the story.
The
confirmed supporting cast includes respected actors like Prakash Raj, Vivek
Oberoi, and Kanchana. The presence of Prakash Raj suggests he might play a
powerful government official or a key opponent for Prabhas’ cop character.

III. The Mystery of the 'One Bad Habit'
A. The Teaser: Cop vs. Prisoner
The first
official hint at the story came from the ‘One Bad Habit’ audio teaser, which
used sound only to introduce the conflict.10 The scene features an
aggressive high-ranking officer (likely Prakash Raj) confronting Prabhas’
character, calling him a "remand prisoner." The officer forces him to
choose between "Khakis or Kadis" (the police uniform or the criminal
uniform).
This
conversation is the central theme: Prabhas' character is a decorated IPS
officer who is now a prisoner. His calm reply to the officer shows he has
completely broken away from the system he once served.
B. The Dual Story: The Sincere Cop’s Flaw
Spirit is confirmed as a sincere cop
drama, which might transit into a high-tension mafia drama in the second
half. Prabhas' character is a decorated, sincere, yet arrogant and brutally
honest police officer.
The
film's teaser ends with Prabhas' line: “Right from my childhood, I just have
one bad habit...” This "bad habit" is understood to be his
uncontrollable arrogance or brutal honesty. This flaw is the catalyst
that transforms his life, causing him to become a remand prisoner and drawing
him into the world of the high-stakes mafia plot. He remains a sincere cop, but
one whose attitude creates immense conflict.
C. Is it Supernatural?
While the
main story is about a cop vs. the mafia, some rumours suggest story might include supernatural elements. This would be new for Vanga.
However,
given Vanga’s focus on dark psychological stories, the "supernatural"
element is likely not about ghosts. Instead, it might be a metaphor for the
hero's intense internal guilt or trauma that haunts him. Another
option is that "Spirit" is simply the code name for a secret
operation, a powerful drug, or a mafia group.
IV. Vanga’s Style Moving beyond Animal
A. The Promise of Intensity: A New Approach
Though
Vanga’s previous films set a precedent for intense themes, the director has
clarified that film will be very different from the style of Animal.
While it is expected to have the explosive action and strong emotions Vanga is
known for, the new film will take a distinctly different narrative direction,
focusing on the complex journey of a sincere, yet arrogant decorated cop.
This
means Vanga is not simply repeating the formula. While the film will be
intense, it moves away from a direct comparison to Ranbir Kapoor’s blockbuster,
promising a fresh character dynamic driven by Prabhas’ star power and the
character's internal conflict.
B. The Emotional Anchor
Vanga's
stories always need strong emotional relationships to explain the hero’s
actions. In this movie, Tripti Dimri’s character, a doctor, is expected to
be the main emotional connection. Her will likely act as the moral conscience
or healing force, attempting to mitigate the damage caused by the protagonist’s
inherent volatility. Her role is key to the complex romantic angle and ensures
that the character’s path is emotionally devastating.

V. Starting a Cinematic Universe
A. It’s Becoming a Franchise
A major
update by Mid-day is that film will now be a franchise. It was
originally planned as a single film, but Prabhas loved the story so much that
he suggested turning it into a series. This decision confirms that
the production teams, including Bhadrakali Pictures and T-Series have long-term
confidence in the character.
B. The Cliff-hanger ending
To
support the franchise plan, It is expected to end with an open
ending or a cliff-hanger. If this happens new Prabhas-Vanga
cinematic universe will be created. Except MHCU, no any other cinematic
universe is properly set. Some have just started their universe with first
movie. Personally I am not at all excited for this universe as every movie will
have 3-4 years gap. As Sandeep is also working for Animal Park.
Conclusions
This movie is clearly designed to be a landmark film. Its production is highly efficient, with 70% of the music already finished. The story will follow the dramatic journey of a sincere police officer, driven by his 'One Bad Habit'. The film features Tripti Dimri as a key emotional character. I am not sure about the cinematic universe or open ending. It’s a possibility that it can be 2-3 part film only.
