Ramayana Trailer Discussion: What Worked & What Didn't

Namit Malhotra's Ramayana trailer was released on July 30, 4:15am at Brahm Muhurat. Many reviewers praised it, some criticised it. But the criticism by some reviewers on Ramayana is being considered as hate. If someone is claiming that we are presenting our culture and history to the world through Ramayana, people will be concerned about it obviously. Their PR, Yash and Ranbir fans are defending it blindly. But here's my honest take on what we know about this film yet.

Ramayana Trailer Discussion

What worked:

Ramayana Trailer Discussion

Some visuals in the trailer like Jatayu vs Ravana fight glimpse. Airavat elephant shot (though Indra dev is not visible. They might have saved him for movie or another trailer). Rakul preet casting looks good as Shurpanakha. The Rakshas they previously showed in glimpse was looking westernized. Makers listened to that and gave him Indian look. The lotus scene where Shri Ram is taking knowledge from Vishwamitra was also good. One thing I would mention is, that in comics, they have mentioned Ravana was driven by lust. But not in trailer.

What didnt work according to me:

From the trailer some dialogues sounded wrong. Ravana says, Ram se pratishodh liya jayega. Though we cant judge from trailer that he only mean to take revenge. Sita maa says "Hamare bhagya me likha hai to mujhe Swikar hai". I wont go into whether its wrong or right, but that dialogue did not connect. It felt odd. Except visuals I mentioned above, other visuals in trailer were not good. After seeing the whole trailer I did not get much excited to see or wait for the movie. Ramayan's core part is its emotions and Shri Ram's duty towards his gurus, family and citizens. Trailer seemed more like 'Ravanayana' than 'Ramayana'. Its true that we cant conclude from the trailer itself that if the movie is going to be bad or good. But what we felt after watching the trailer, we have to discuss it. But dont know whether it is PR team or fans, but they are calling this criticism as hate. If makers are claiming 4000 crore budget combining both the movies, from trailer it didnt even feels like it's a 500 crore movie. Rajamouli gave us bahubali in just 400 crores budget. It did not seem fake at all. But due to the overuse of CGI, Ramayana trailer look artificial. Not emotionally, but trailer wasnt even visually better. They could have wait and released it after all the work finished. Maker's are promoting it to global level is good, but for that, movie should not feel westernized. It should not loose its soul.

Conclusion

Audience is very sensitive about this epic. Because it means a lot those who have grown up watching or listening Ramayan. Very few would have read this epic but they have at least watched Ramanand Sagar ji's Ramayana. It is still relevant and can be watched many times. Not because it had great visuals but it grabbed core emotions, Bhakti, Bhaav of Ramayan. So, those audience who aren't fans of any actors or big names involved in this movie, will criticise its flaws. Hope they will not alter anything wrong in the movie.

Deul Band 2 review

Blockbuster marathi Deul band's sequel has released in theatres on 21 may. Heres my opinion for the movie First part was released in 2015 after 2 weeks of Bahubali release. But it was not affected by the clash, because of its content. After I watched the part 2 trailer, thought this wont be good like the first one. But I was wrong. This movie is not any less than the first part. Deul band 2 is based on farmer's suicide in Maharashtra and their problems. It does not deal with it politically but practically. In a spiritual way.  Faith as a Strength, Not an Escape The story follows a struggling farmer who is pushed to his absolute limit, and his family, whose deep devotion brings Swami Samarth back into the picture. What I really loved about the writing is how Swami Samarth’s character is handled. He doesn’t just wave a magic wand to clear bank debts or make it rain instantly. The movie shows that spirituality isn't a shortcut to skip hard work; it’s the inner strength you nee...

Dhurandhar: Jaskirat Singh Rangi story

If you just walked out of the theater after watching Ranveer Singh transform into the lethal Hamza Ali Mazari, you likely have one burning question: Is Jaskirat Singh Rangi a real person? The movie Dhurandhar blurs the lines between history and folklore so effectively that it’s hard to tell where the files end and the script begins. Here is the definitive breakdown of what is true and what a cinematic masterstroke is. The Verdict: Is Jaskirat Real? No. Jaskirat Singh Rangi is a fictional character but represents real intelligence assets. While the internet is buzzing with theories about him being based on the late Major Mohit Sharma (who famously infiltrated terrorist groups under the alias Iftikhar Bhatt), the filmmakers and courts have clarified that the character is fictional.    However, there is a brilliant "Easter Egg" that proves his fictional nature lies within a Cinematic Universe: In Aditya Dhar’s previous blockbuster, Uri: The Surgical Strike, the characte...
