The collaboration between blockbuster director SS Rajamouli and Superstar Mahesh Babu—tentatively titled #SSMB29 and more recently, #GlobeTrotter—is arguably the most anticipated project in Indian cinema right now. The silence from the makers is deafening, yet the whispers, hints, and cryptic posts on X (formerly twitter) have fueled a frenzy of rumors, fan theories, and celebrity reactions.

Here’s a deep dive into the most exciting chatter circulating on social media about this mega-project.

1. The Cast Confirmation and the 'Captured' Lion

One of the first and most electric social media exchanges came when Rajamouli officially teased the start of the project and confirmed its lead actors.

The Post that Broke the Internet: In early 2025, SS Rajamouli shared a cryptic post featuring an Indian passport and a lion being "captured." The lion, affectionately referring to Mahesh Babu, who had recently voiced Mufasa in the Telugu version of The Lion King, was a clear nod to his leading man.

2. An Adventure of Epic Proportions: From Hanuman to Indiana Jones

The genre and scale of #SSMB29 have dominated fan discussions. The film is made on a pan world  one-part globe-trotting adventure thriller with a budget reportedly nearing ₹1,000 crore.

  • Plot Theories on X: Vijayendra Prasad's (Rajamouli's father and writer) story is said to be inspired by the Indiana Jones franchise, blending action with elements of Indian History.
  • The Hanuman Connect: A recurring rumor is that Mahesh Babu's character is inspired by the Hindu mythological figure Lord Hanuman. Mahesh Babu has undergone rigorous physical training for this physically demanding, action-heavy role.
  • African Jungle Adventure: The film's GlobeTrotter moniker is well-earned. Shooting has already taken place in various international locations, most notably the breathtaking landscapes of Kenya. Rajamouli even took to social media to thank the Kenyan government for their support.
